The HIV epidemic has had a dramatic effect on the people of Swaziland and has markedly brought down the life expectancy in the Kingdom. In addition, tuberculosis (TB) is a serious health problem of the region, complicated by increasing multidrug resistance. The socioeconomic consequences are grave as the young adult population is the most affected by HIV and TB. All levels of the health system are in dire need of medical personnel and improvement in diagnostics and treatment.
SWAZINOR is committed to supporting sustainable healthcare in Swaziland.
In collaboration with Lovisenberg Hospital in Oslo, Norway, we have established an endoscopy unit at the Raleigh Fitkin Memorial (RFM) Hospital in Manzini, Swaziland. Olympus and Lovisenberg Hospital have kindly donated equipment for endoscopy and decontamination.
